What you control

If an app you use is built on KAPEX, you should be able to read what it holds about you and change it. Here’s what we’ve built for that, and where the app you’re using has to do its part.

One thing KAPEX doesn’t do is ask you before it keeps what the app sends it. Telling you the app remembers, and asking first, is up to the app.

  • All of this is built and tested. There’s no app you can try it in yet.
  • Tested here means automated tests in the engine’s own code, which run each time someone proposes a change to it.

Every control, and what’s behind it

Checked against the code October 12, 2026

  • You can see what it keeps about you.One call lists every line you can act on, each with its reason written out, such as “pinned by you” or “you asked me to leave this alone”. Earlier wordings you replaced aren’t in that list; they’re in the export. The app draws the screen.
  • Keep it, hide it, fix it, or delete it.Keep pins a line. Hide asks it to leave that line alone. Fix puts your corrected wording in its place and keeps the old one underneath, marked as replaced. Delete removes the line. The app draws the buttons.
  • A delete request removes the record and writes the removal to a ledger. The ledger record is written first, and only then is the line removed. It says who asked and why, with the date, and it does not hold the words that were deleted. On the calls the developer page recommends.
  • Deleting a memory takes its details with it.Summaries written from that line, and the finer details stored with it, go in the same request. An app can also erase everything held for one person in a single request, apart from the record that it happened. Two gaps are still open. If you fixed the line first, deleting it doesn’t yet remove the earlier wording. And some notes the engine files under you instead of under the line stay behind, such as patterns it spots across several lines and copies of what you said. Erasing everything held for you removes both.On the calls the developer page recommends.
  • You can take every line it keeps about you as a file. The file holds every line, including what a line said before you fixed it, and the ledger of anything deleted. The copies of what you said, described above, aren’t in it.How you ask for it is up to the app.
  • Ask it to leave something alone, and it stops handing that to the app.You can name one line, or a topic, like a marathon you’ve decided not to run. Naming a topic hides the lines on it at the moment you ask. A line added after that isn’t covered yet, so the app has to ask again. Each hidden line is checked every time the app asks for a note, and you can undo it.
  • After a delete, you can see that it happened. The app can read the ledger back and show it to you. The export carries it too.The app draws the screen.

All of this holds when the app is built on the set of calls the developer page recommends. KAPEX also has a second set where a single delete doesn’t yet write the ledger record or take the memory’s details with it. The developer page lists the differences.

Every line above is a call an app makes, and the app decides how it looks.

What it could look like in an app

We don’t make the screen. The app does. This is the kind of page we hope every app built on KAPEX puts in front of you, with the same four choices on every line.

Before is the card as it starts. Pick one of the others to see what it does.

Fix puts your corrected wording in its place and keeps the old one underneath, marked as replaced. Here the birthday moved from Saturday to Friday. The card shows only the new wording, and the old one is in the export.

Delete, in order

On the calls the developer page recommends.

  1. You ask to delete a line.
  2. The ledger record is written first. It says who asked and why, with the date, and it does not hold the words that were deleted.
  3. Only then is the line removed. Summaries written from that line, and the finer details stored with it, go in the same request.
You fixed a line, then deleted it. Which of these are left?
Check your answers
  • The line you deleted

    Removed, with its details.

  • A ledger record that you deleted something

    Still there, on purpose.

  • The earlier wording, from before you fixed it

Still there, for now. If you fixed the line first, deleting it doesn’t yet remove the earlier wording.

  • Copies of what you said

Still there, for now. Some notes the engine files under you instead of under the line stay behind, such as patterns it spots across several lines and copies of what you said.

Erasing everything held for you removes the last two and leaves the ledger record.

Who else sees what you say

While KAPEX reads a turn, it passes the text to a model of its own, from an outside provider, so that provider sees it too. The developer page names the default one.

Who sees what you say You write to the app, and the app hands your words to its own model.
